Pastor Ackie Cheung

Pastor Ackie was born and raised in Hong Kong. She came to faith and sensed God’s call during her secondary school years. In 1999, she graduated from the Hong Kong Lutheran Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Theology and began pastoral ministry, serving youth, young adults, and families, while furthering her training in chaplaincy and counselling. During this period, she also served as a volunteer hospital chaplain, school teacher, and community centre counsellor, gaining a broad spectrum of pastoral experience.

From 2003 to 2011, she and her husband pursued advanced studies in Germany. She earned a Master of Arts (double major in Education and Religious Education) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Science, specializing in experiential education. After returning to Hong Kong, she devoted herself to caring for her daughter and published her doctoral dissertation in 2012. From 2016 to 2018, she completed a Diploma in Special Education. She also engaged in teaching and research at university, seminary, and community centres, while continuing church ministry in areas such as new believers’ discipleship, small group and leadership training etc. She especially enjoys leading adventure-based trainings, focusing on leadership, team building, personal growth, and marriage enrichment.

In 2020, she served at the Toronto Chinese Christian Church as the Cantonese Congregation Caring Pastor. She established and trained a care team, shepherded adults and seniors, supported members facing illness, palliative care, mental and emotional challenges, cared for local and immigrant newcomer families, and helped form newcomer fellowship groups.

Pastor Ackie enjoys music, movies, learning, and hiking. She is grateful for the diverse opportunities God has given her to learn and serve, she looks forward to walking alongside with brothers and sisters in discipleship and fellowship, experiencing the Lord’s grace and continual renewal by the Holy Spirit.
