Pastor Bryan was born and raised in Hong Kong. After graduation from university, majoring in translation, he entered to work as a translator in a law firm. During the financial crisis after Hong Kong’s handover to China in 1997, he started researching the Bible, spiritual care and liberal studies. In 2004, he entered Alliance Bible Seminary where he met his future wife, Pastor Fiona Kan. They got married in 2008 and moved to Vancouver in 2009. Pastor Bryan furthered his study in the New Testament at Regent College. After graduation, he served Cantonese-speaking students and young adults at Richmond Chinese Alliance Church. Starting from the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2015, a Maltese Yorkie mix “Mooncake” joined Bryan and Fiona’s family. Since 2017, Pastor Bryan has served Cantonese-speaking students and later young adults at RHCCC, encouraging them to grow in Christ. Currently he is involved in coordinating discipleship for the Cantonese people group. In May 2023, he graduated from Chicago’s Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a Doctor of Ministry degree. His major project is titled “Hospitality of a New Wave for Hong Kong Diaspora by the Hong Kong Background Cantonese-Speaking Churches in Canada as a Journey of Discipleship.” He loves Hong Kong pop culture, Hong Kong style café, K-drama, Korean cuisine, Japanese cuisine and Gundam series.
