世界觀察名單 (World Watch List) 在公佈2018年度報告期間：3,066名基督徒被殺害;1,252名被綁架;1,020名遭強姦或性侵;以及793間教堂遭受襲擊。
Christians remain one of the most persecuted religious groups in the world. Christians suffer different forms of persecution due to their identification with Christ. Christians throughout the world continue to risk imprisonment, loss of home and assets, torture, beheadings, rape and even death as a result of their faith. Trends show that countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East are intensifying persecution against Christians.
Some research shows 215 million Christians experience high levels of persecution in the countries on the World Watch List. This represents 1 in 12 Christians worldwide. North Korea is ranked #1 for the 17th consecutive year as the most dangerous country for Christians. 25% of Christians are believed to be in labor camps for their refusal to worship the country’s leader. An estimated 400,000 Christians remain underground to worship their God.
During the World Watch List 2018 reporting period: 3,066 Christians were killed; 1,252 were abducted; 1,020 were raped or sexually harassed; and 793 churches were attacked.
Christians who suffer because of their faith need our prayers !
The Middle East is a very difficult region for Christians to live out their faith in public. In places like Iran, Qatar and Eritrea, being a Christian is dangerous and risky, and it could cost you your life. Most persecution of Christians in the Arab Gulf region comes from society or radical Islamic groups, the main threat for believers in many countries in middle east comes from the government.
Yemen government officials maintain a strict Islamic system that treats all nationals as Muslims. Christians face persecution from extended family, tribal leaders and local imams, and are denied access to emergency relief that is distributed through Islamic organizations and mosques.
Islamic State (IS) group targets Iraqi Christians and other religious minorities for kidnappings and killings. Government officials, both national and local, have threatened Iraqi Christians, “encouraging” them to leave the country.
The Iranian regime declares the country to be a Shia Islamic State and is constantly expanding its influence. In Iran, Christians have shrunk from 1.5 million to 300,000 and are systematically targeted by ISIS.
Praying for Persecuted Churches in the Middle East
– Walter Chu
Our gracious heavenly Father, Jesus Christ our Savior and Holy Spirit, we come to You interceding for our suffering bodies caused to walk the path of persecution and pain for Your name’s sake.
Father, we pray that You empower them to know and experience Your love, and give them the strength to remain firm in the faith. Enable them to be fruitful witnesses of the love of Christ.
Father, we pray for Your mercy that You will protect your churches from the evils of this world and be with them throughout all the terrible ordeals. Guard, guide and keep the brothers and sisters from harm, and protect their families.
Father, we pray for Your protection from the mentally exhaustion, emotional fear and physical suffering that brothers and sisters are going through, and we pray that Your Holy Spirit would draw close to them and protect them – and give them the spiritual strength to endure under such hardship.
Father, we pray that You would make ACEM/RHCCC ever mindful of our brothers and sisters around the world who need us to stand with them as they suffer in Your name. O Lord, hear our prayer, have mercy to our churches.
In Christ Jesus name we pray, Amen.
