I came to RHCCC while still in high school. As part of Nexis Community, I learned to strive for excellence, always aiming to give my best to God. Through participation in outreach activities, I learned to organize and lead. I learned to overcome fear by leaning on God. These lessons would become immensely useful in preparing me for ministry in church and at work.
But in my pursuit of excellence, I became increasingly prideful, eventually measuring ministry success with such secular values as productivity and efficiency. Thankfully, God continued to work on me. Through a short-term mission trip to Brazil, and my subsequent ministries in Peter Fellowship, DNA and the Executive Church Board, I experienced God’s transforming power. He broke me and restored me. He taught me humility and how to place my life in His hands.
God is not through with me yet. He has shown me my place in His Kingdom. He wants me to walk with Him, and to help others live out their life purpose. This past year I decided to return to Nexis as a coach. God has laid on my heart these Cantonese-speaking young people, and I want to help them anchor their lives in God’s Word. I’m also a mentor and administrator in the C.S. Lewis Discipleship Program. At work, I want to excel, and become a peacemaker. With God’s help, I hope to create a workplace where people can live in harmony.
