Since coming to Christ in Nexis in 2000, I’ve experienced God’s abundant love again and again. Apart from learning to love and care for others, I’ve served as a small group and fellowship leader. God’s greatest lesson for me all these years: seek Him and surrender to His will.
Speaking of surrender, let me tell you how I gave birth while battling cancer. In May 2017, just six months after I got married, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Then during pre-surgery screening, they found that I was 2-½ months pregnant. Imagine the anxiety this caused me and my husband. I cried out to God. And Matthew 6:27 clearly came to mind: “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” Deep down, I knew that all was in God’s hands. He was going to protect and guide me. As long as it was in His will, I was ready to surrender. All through surgery and therapy, pregnancy and birth, I was totally at peace.
I gave birth to a healthy boy in early 2018. By May, cancer treatment was completed and I was declared healed. Looking back on my battle with cancer during pregnancy, I see God’s grace at work. In my suffering, He allowed me to carry my child. The baby cheered me on, kept me company and made me strong! Truly, God’s ways are higher than our ways.
God has also used my journey to encourage others, and help those going through trials. Along with several sisters who had given birth at about the same time, I joined a new mothers’ group. When Noah Fellowship hosted Alpha Café in 2019, we invited some of the members to take part, and one of them gave her life to Christ! Praise God!
