“I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you,” (John 14:16, the Message). That’s what Jesus told the disciples as He prepared to leave. It’s what Jesus continues to tell each of us today as we work through our daily chores.
Let it sink in for a moment. The Holy Spirit is your ultimate Partner at work. He’s always ready to listen and help. Is there gossip in the back office? Do I feel the fiery darts flying around? Will Monday bring the next round of lay-offs? Are we getting the big contract? Is the merger proceeding? How am I going to do the presentation when I’m a nervous wreck? How will I get through this meeting with an angry client? How will I survive tonight’s party in my boss’s home with all the politics and landmines?
Turn to your Ultimate Partner @ Work. He walks with you. He hears you. He will speak for you. The story is told of a customer service agent with an angry client on the line. Despite an explanation and a promise of remedial action, the verbal abuse continued, while the rep silently prayed to be delivered. Almost unexpectedly, the ranting stopped. “The whole atmosphere changed,” she recalls. “It was the Holy Spirit.”
There’s no need to bear your daily burdens alone. In fact, make sure you speak with your Partner first as you walk into your next meeting.
This week: According to your work schedule, take 2-3 minutes during your morning, lunch and afternoon break, calm down and thank the Holy Spirit for being your Partner at work.
Prayer: Father, I ask to hear from the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that my life at work can be a clear demonstration of Your power and glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
